As a formal research project with a written and multimedia component, your audience will be your classmates and members of the general public at large. You may want to examine location privacy and your cell phone, the past, present and future role of State-sponsored mapping agencies, volunteered geographic information (VGI), GST & location-based services, agent-centered privacy solutions (the difference between opting in and opting out) or technology-centered privacy solutions, MGIS (military GIS), domestic drone policy, or some other topic. 1. Proposed research topic with at least one scholarly reference submitted by Nov 5th (10 points) 2. Research paper & bibliography of sources cited: 900 – 1200 words in length (excluding title page and bibliography) (This would be about the same as a 3-5 page paper). (30 points – Due Dec 7th) 3. Digital representation (wiki, website or other form of digital representation).That includes narrative of main points as well as images, maps, videos or other forms of multimedia. Proposed Research Topic: You will write a paragraph (at least 3 or 4 sentences) about your proposed topic for approval and include at least one scholarly source that applies to your topic in the 2. Scholarly sources are peer reviewed and include journal articles or chapters from peer reviewed publications or books. You may also want to utilize government documents or official government or agency websites as well as materials from the popular media, magazine, ePublications, newspapers, internet sources, videos and other materials. Since we are dealing with emerging technologies, like Web 2.0, GeoWeb, VGI and other online and multimedia-based topics, you may be using or discussing these types of media in your paper and digital representation. Your final project should have at least five sources total (this includes the minimum of two scholarly sources). Be sure and engage with the readings and attribute your findings Please consider using some of the course (scholarly) readings in your research. We have had several excellent scholarly readings and I suggest you try and use them (or works from their bibliography) in your paper.
